The American Cancer Society got of to a good kick start at it’s local bunko party at the Grange November 7th. There was good food ( prepared by Bernie Wooden) lots of fun playing bunko along with a silent auction at the end of the evening. There will be another bunko in the spring of the year, so watch the website and watch your e-mail from Sheryl, Wanda or Myself (Mel) for information on the next event. Also, in the next block down, there is in formation on Christmas wreath and centerpieces for the holiday. All the proceeds go to the American Cancer Society. You can help your local cancer society chapter meet   their goal for this next year by ordering from Sheryl or Wanda.

To:    District 3 Grangers By Eva Frost St Grange Convention Chair

Please read or distribute at your next meeting.

Since some have not been able to attend our steering meetings, this is a recap of where we are and what remains to be done.  The money is raised!  Most events are planned, but we still have things to do.

Grange Bulletin:  We hope you noticed the front page coverage in the last Bulletin!  Nice huh?  Thanks to all Granges who sent profiles and hall pictures. The March and May issues should have more information so make sure you read your Grange Bulletin to keep up on the latest session planning.

Food:  The Convention Center caterer created a special menu with lower prices to fit our budgets. You must place your meal ticket order before June 1. The order form is in the Grange Bulletin, or you can print it from the State Grange website: www.orgrange.org.

Session Tentative Schedule:  Look for it in the March Bulletin or on the website.

Session Registration:  Registration starts at noon on Sunday. Someone will be on duty all week to help those who arrive mid-week.  We need additional volunteers for this task.

Hospitality:  We want to be THE BEST HOSTS ever. Our Hospitality group will be on duty all week to help with directions, car pools, messages, places to eat dinner, a word of the day, and the list goes on. If you can volunteer, please contact Teresa Jackson at teetsa@gmail.com or 503-970-9593.

Memorial Team:  We need four men and four women who will be at the session on Tuesday June 12th and can march.  Please contact Eva Frost to volunteer.

Signs:  We will be putting up signs in and around the Convention Center on Saturday June 9th so if you can help with this task, contact Teresa Jackson at teetsa@gmail.com or 503-970-9593.

Community Service:  The Community Service/Involvement Committee will conduct a food drive for the Seaside food bank. So start collecting non-perishable food and bring your donation.

5th Degree:  Washington/Yamhill and Columbia Pomonas have formed a joint team to confer the 5th Degree on Wednesday June 13th at 4:30. If you have not taken the 5th Degree, we encourage you to do so. The fee is $2.00 per person.

6th Degree:  Fourteen young ladies and two young men from Washington and Columbia Counties will form the Rosebud Drill Team as part of the 6th Degree on Wednesday June 13th at 7:45 pm.  Again, if you have not taken this degree, we encourage you to. The fee is $5.00 per person.

Veterans:  On Tuesday morning, June 12th, the Veterans Committee will have a conference.  Then right after the Memorial Service, veterans will be honored.  If you have members who are vets, urge them to attend.

Baby Sitting:  We are required to have a certified baby sitter at the session all week. If any of your members need this service, please contact Evelyn Hudson at twins2@opusnet.com or 503-543-7720.

Juniors:  The Junior schedule and forms should be in the next Grange Bulletin and are on the website. Your children or grandchildren between the ages of 5-14 can participate as a member of the State Junior Grange. They will confer the Junior Degree on Wednesday morning, have craft projects, go swimming, and take an all-day field trip. Bring your kids or grandkids!

Youth: Youth and young adults between14 through 35 are still developing their schedule.  The State Youth Officer team will open the Grange on Friday morning. The Youth Luncheon follows with awards, a speaking contest, and the Goodie Basket drawing. Check the website for additional information.

Welcome Bags:  Several Granges from Washington, Yamhill, and Columbia Counties are making 300 welcome bags. These are hand sewn from beach themed material. This has been a great project because it has brought Granges

Hello to all our Grange Members and Friends.

So far this year, I think our events have been successful.

Nikki Sherman benefit went well. We had about 80 people come to the dinner and had a gross of $505.00 which was put in to a scholarship fund at LCC in Nichole’s  name. We still have donations coming in. We had another $75.00 come in this week. You can still donate to this fund if you which.

Make checks out to Nichole Sherman LCC Scholarship fund and mail to Beaver Homes Grange PO Box 303 Rainier Ore 97048. We would like to thank everyone that helped  with this event to make it a success.

Our Grange will host a spaghetti dinner Saturday May 19th

From 5 to 7 pm for My deceased Grandson Matt White. The cost of this dinner will be $5.00 A scholarship  fund was set up in Matt Whites name at Aloha High School by the student body where Matt attended High School. All funds raised from this event will go to this fund.

If you like to donate to this cause, mail checks to Beaver Homes Grange Po box 303 Rainier Or 97047 Make checks to  Matt White Scholarship Fund, Thank You

Saturday May 5th will be our annual building fund, fund raising dinner and silent auction. We need items that we can sell at the silent auction and any cash donations would be very helpful. We have many needs this year to pay for and our district is also responsible for the State Grange Convention. We will need funding help for the people that will be helping with the convention.

If you which to contribute, make check payable to Beaver Homes Grange and mail to Po Box 303 Rainier Ore 97048

The Oregon State Grange Convention will be  June 10th thru June 15 at The Convention Center in Seaside Oregon. Come and attend a day or two if you can and get a feel for what the convention does.

Any members that are interested in the 5th  and 6th degree  at this time, the 5th degree will be Tuesday evening June 12th and the 6th degree will be Wednesday evening June 13th.
